I Use'd Do Security, I Construct Now Too
From the Associated Press: We goin' 'ta build 'em an airport in Najaf, Iraq.
The World Strategic Initiatives Group is headed by Henry E. Wilkins, 48, who worked for the State Department advising the governments of Afghanistan and Bosnia on police issues, and a former sheriff's investigator in Citrus County, Fla....
...WSI Group was formerly known as World Security Initiatives Group, but Wilkins said he changed the firm's name to reflect its foray into construction work...
See, it's all spelled out as plain as day. OK, look...security, construction, they can do it all just like Wal-Mart!
How much you wanna bet this $300 million project gets blown up by insurgents a few times and turns into a $1.3 billion project? Or, enough security forces will be bought and paid for and it still ends up being a $1.3 billion project. Either way, the war profiteers come out on top.
How much of this money do you think will go to the Iraqis? You guessed it...nada.

man, I could use a paycheack like that, lets start our own company.
Does that count as reaganomics?
WSI is now...WSI. They don't even have to change the letterhead.
Humm interesting comments, but from the information it appears that WSI will be putting up the money (barring that thye can find so much) and getting the cost back after operations. Much better than the cost plus of most projects that have been done (well some done) using your tax payers money. If this does come off, it is a sign of the Iraqi getting things done through the use of private investors verse black hole of our tax money.
What it does not state in many of the articles is the fact that WSI has not paid many of their employees in 3 - 4 months. 20/20, Dateline, Nightline, etc. have been contacted as well as many lawyers. WSI is not putting up their own money, they are putting up their employees money.
Annonymous is correct. the employees paid for Mr. Wilkins and his team to run around. Ironically, they used funds from another project (that they did not mobilize) to pay for the marketing behind this one. No one blew up, it never happened, and the employees never got paid.
