Oh How They Dance
So that off year election actually spooked 'em. The Republicans are embracing the Democratic plan for withdrawal from Iraq. They still say, "We are not going to have any timetable." But agree with Democrats that, "2006 should be a period of significant transition to full Iraqi sovereignty, with Iraqi security forces taking the lead for the security of a free and sovereign Iraq, thereby creating the conditions for the phased redeployment of United States forces from Iraq."
Sounds like a timetable to me...

they should call it a tableau of linear increments
Stop mixing paradigms!
Elmo, what are the soldiers like when they get home from Iraq? Are they ok? (Mostly?)
Iraq is a pretty psychologically disturbing place.
I just can't imagine what it'd be like to re-adjust to life in the US.
I was there in '91-'92 for 4 months. I never had to kill anyone. The only thing shot at us was an artillery shell that missed by at least one mile(however in the desert it seems a lot closer, and artillery is very scary). I had to jump in a foxhole once to defend against small band of stragglers on the Kuwait Iraqi border, but they ran off and no one ever attacked the border again. I was lucky...these guys coming back from Iraq will be at the least "never the same" and at worse insane. When I was a Ranger we took classes on dealing with killing a person. There are reservist being thrown into infantry roles who trained as mechanics.
Lord help 'em.
